Listed below are the benefits you receive as an employee of Medical West.

Health Insurance

Blue Cross Blue Shield preferred medical coverage.

Employee Cost:

Single Coverage          $125.00 per month

Family Coverage         $285.00 per month

 

VIVA Health preferred medical care coverage.

Employee Cost:

Single Coverage          $68.00 per month

Family Coverage         $170.00 per month

Dental Insurance

Blue Cross Blue Shield preferred dental coverage.

Vacation Time

Vacation hours are earned in the current year for use during the following year.  Employees with one or more years of continuous full-time service will be granted vacation based on actual hours worked as follows:

1 year continuous employment = up to 80 work hours of vacation (2 weeks)

5 years of continuous employment = up to 120 work hours of vacation (3 weeks)

15 years of continuous employment = up to 160 work hours of vacation (4 weeks)

*Part-time employees will be eligible for 40 hours of vacation under the following conditions:

  • a) Continuously employed for a full calendar year;

        •  b) Worked a minimum of 1,560 hours in the previous year.    

Sick/Bereavement Leave and Bonus

Sick/bereavement leave is accrued at the rate of 1 day per month of full-time employment (based off of worked hours), with a maximum accrual of 12 days per year.  Sick/bereavement leave may be used after 6 months of employment.

Bonus: MW recognizes those employees that do not use their sick/bereavement leave by paying the employee for those unused hours at the end of the calendar year, subject to the terms of the sick/bereavement leave policy.

Pension Plan

100% employer paid retirement pension plan.  To participate, an employee must be 21 years of age and have 1 year of full-time service.  The plan has a 7-year vesting schedule with the hospital contributing a minimum of 2% of the employee's gross earning.  In addition, the hospital will match $.50 on the dollar, up to 4% of gross earnings, for what the employee contributes to their 457(b). 

*Part-time employees will be eligible for pension under the following conditions:

  • a) Previous qualifying year (minimum of 1,000 hour worked);
  • b) Worked a minimum of 1,000 hours in the current year.

457 (b) Retirement Savings Plan

Voluntary program of pre-tax savings through payroll deduction for retirement. 

Section 125 "Cafeteria" Plan

Voluntary benefit that complements the health and dental insurance by allowing an employee to pay their insurance premiums with pre-tax dollars.  It also allows the employee to set aside pre-tax dollars in an account to pay for non-reimbursed medical expenses and dependent care expenses.  Available in September of each year.

529 College Savings Plan

Voluntary program offered through our current 403 (b) providers to save money for your children or grandchildren's post high school education.

Group Term Life Insurance

To participate, an employee must have 1 year of continuous full-time service.  MW will provide an amount equal to ½ of the employee's annual salary up to $50,000 max, raised to the next highest thousand with a minimum voluntary amount of $10,000, up to $300,000.

*Part-time employees will receive $10,000 in coverage if they work a minimum of 1,560 hours during the calendar year.  Coverage will be for one calendar year and reviewed at year end for possible continuation.

Whole Life Insurance

To participate, an employee must have 1 year of continuous full-time service.  Whole Life insurance can be purchased for the employee and/or an employee's dependants.  Whole Life insurance builds cash on a tax-deferred value. 

Critical Illness Insurance

To participate, an employee must have 1 year of continuous full-time service.  Critical illness insurance can be purchased for the employee and/or an employee's dependants.  Critical illness insurance provides cash benefits when faced with a critical illness. 

Long Term Disability Insurance

To participate, an employee must have 1 year of continuous full-time service.  LTD insurance provides for employee income replacement equal to 60% with a maximum benefit of $6,000 per month in the case of a long term disability greater than 90 days in duration.

Short Term Disability Insurance

To participate, an employee must have 1 year of continuous full-time service.  STD insurance provides for employee income replacement equal to 60% with a maximum benefit of $1,000 per week up to 9 weeks in duration.

Long Term Care Insurance

Voluntary benefit that provides for you and your covered family members for home health care, adult day care, assisted living and nursing home care in the event of an extended illness.

Hospital Services Discount

50% discount on charges remaining after insurance payments have been received to MW employees, spouses and dependent children.

Drug Discounts

The Medical Center Pharmacy offers a discount on prescription drugs.

Optical Discounts

Medical Center Optical offers a discount on prescription glasses and contacts.

Parking

All employees may use the assigned parking facilities adjacent to the hospital at NO CHARGE.

Discounted Uniforms

Hospital Equipment, located near the hospital, offers all employees a 25% discount on uniforms.

Notary Public

Free notary public services for all employees.

Direct Deposit

Automatically deposit your paycheck directly to the bank account(s) specified.

Mutual Savings Federal Credit Union

Receive savings, checking, and loan services. 

Medi-spa West

Offers all employees 10% off of all Laser services and 10% off all products and other services

Cafeteria Discount

Employees, while working and wearing their employee I.D badge, are eligible for a 35% discount on meals in the cafeteria.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Confidential counseling and referral service for employees and their immediate family who are experiencing personal or emotional difficulties.
