Arthritis and Rheumatology

The Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology treats arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, polymyositis, vasculitis, fibromyalgia, gout, ankylosis spondylitis, osteoporosis, and soft tissue sports injuries.

The UAB Hospital rheumatology program ranked eighth nationally in the U.S. News & World Report “America’s Best Hospitals” issue, July 2007.

Clinical services include:

  • bone mineral density evaluation

  • arthroscopy

  • bone and joint imaging

  • treatment for complications of rheumatic fever

  • immunosuppressive therapy

  • Investigational therapies

The Kirklin Clinic On Campus
The Kirklin Clinic, pictured at right, has as one of its greatest advantages the presence of general practitioners and specialists from all fields. This unique mix of disciplines makes it easy for physicians to collaborate on diagnoses and treatments.
The Rheumatology Clinic is located on the third floor of UAB Kirklin Clinic.
