This lab is devoted to the study of human cognition and its neural mediation. Our major emphasis is on the study of neurologic patients with disturbances of attention, perception or language. The following are some of the questions being pursued:
- How is it possible for brain damage to produce disturbances of consciousness restricted to specific sectors of space?
- Why should brain damage produce unawareness of parts of one's own body?
- What is the relationship between external stimuli and internal mental representations?
- How is language structured in the brain?
- Do some concepts have analog (geometric) mental representations in addition to propositional (algebraic) ones?
