UAB Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Endoscopic Ultrasound Program Mohamad A. Eloubeidi, MD, MHS, received the prestigious national REGAL (Research Excellence in GI and Liver Disease) Award for his research, "Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy of Suspected Cholangiocarcinoma."
Recipients are selected from junior faculty across the U.S. Other recipients are at the University of Michigan, Mayo Clinic, University of Colorado, University of Pittsburgh, Duke University, Johns Hopkins, Brigham and Women's Hospital, University of Virginia, and The Cleveland Clinic.
Additionally, Dr. Eloubeidi was invited to be among the international faculty at the sixth International Therapeutic Course in Cairo, representing the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and UAB in performing endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) live demonstrations for an audience of 500 attendees.
He then presented medical grand rounds at his alma mater, The American University of Beirut. "Newer Approaches in the Diagnosis and Staging of GI and Pulmonary Malignancy," explained the role of EUS in staging these malignancies.
