Eight UAB Hospital specialty programs are among the nation’s top 50 — six are in the top 25 — of the 16 categories evaluated at America’s 4,861 hospitals this year by U.S.News & World Report.

The Scientist magazine has ranked UAB as 5th in the “Top 15 U.S. Academic Institutions,” up from 47th in 2007. The dramatic jump coincides with UAB’s cross-collaborative culture in which researchers collaborate with other departments to create a truly multi-disciplinary setting.

UAB Hospital again won the National Research Corporation (NRC) Consumer Choice Award for the Birmingham Metropolitan Statistical Area, making it the only hospital in Birmingham among the nation's 250 top hospitals in terms of consumer perceptions of quality and image.

The American Alliance of Healthcare Providers ranks accredited hospitals based their consumer friendliness, care-related performance and other professional standards.

More than two-thirds of the best doctors in Alabama practice at UAB, according to the 2009-10 edition of The Best Doctors in America. The new edition recognizes 297 UAB physicians among the nation’s best doctors, a total of 67 percent of the 446 physicians selected from the state of Alabama.

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital has been selected as one of America’s most customer-friendly hospitals by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers.

The Kirklin Clinic, a member of the UAB Health System, received a Level 2 - Progress Towards Excellence Award during the Alabama Quality Award Annual Conference and Award Ceremony on November 29, 2007.

UAB Hospital receives renewed accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)
